Gov’t enhances highway toll rate agreement terms
The government has enhanced the terms in its agreement with highway concessionaires on the toll rates, Works Minister Fadillah Yusof said.

One of the terms is the abolishment of automatic toll rate increase, which was present in the previous agreement.

When there is an application from the concessionaire to increase the toll rate, we will check and study the company's statements, whether they had achieved the estimated traffic flow along the highway in the area.

"If the traffic flow reached the estimate, then we will not allow the increase," Fadillah said while winding up the Supply Bill 2016 for the ministry in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

He said if the traffic flow failed to reach the estimate, the government might allow the increase in consideration of the financial commitment that had to be borne by the concessionaire.
