Toll fare increase for several major highways in the Klang Valley
PETALING JAYA: Toll rates for several major highways in the Klang Valley will increase with effect from Thursday.
The Maju Expressway (MEX), Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway (KLK), KL-Kuala Selangor Expressway (Latar), SMART Tunnel, New Pantai Espressway (NPE), Kajang Traffic Dispersal Ring Road (SILK),the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE), Besraya Highway, Lebuhraya Kajang Seremban (Lekas), the Ampang-Kuala Lumpur elevated highway (AKLEH), the Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GCE) and the Kemuning- Shah Alam highway (LKSA) will all see fare increases.
Highway concessionaire Silk Holdings Berhad said that it would raise toll rates for cars to RM1.80 from RM1, whereas vehicles with two axels and five or six wheels will see an increase to RM3.60.
The toll rates for the DUKE highway will be increased to RM2.50 at Sentul Pasar, Kampung Batu and Ayer Panas toll booths respectively.
The Besraya toll rate structure for Mines (South and North) plazas will see and increase to RM2 for cars while the new toll rate for cars at the NPE is RM2.30 from the Pantai Dalam and PJS5 toll plaza's respectively and an increase of RM1 at the PJS2 toll plaza.
MEX will increase its rates for cars to RM2 (Salak Selatan) and RM3.50 (Putrajaya).
The new rates at the Latar expressway are RM2.50 at Ijok, Kuang Timur, Kuang Barat and Templer toll plazas and RM1.30 for Kundang Timur and Kundang Barat.
The SMART tunnel's new rate as of Oct 15 will be RM3.
Motorists will also see an increase in charges for the KLK. Road users will be required to pay RM6 at the Gombak toll plaza and RM3.50 at the Bentong toll plaza.
The rates for the Lekas highway for vehicles having two axles and three or four wheels (excluding taxis and buses) will see the rates increase to RM1.30 (Kajang Selatan and Semenyih toll plazas), RM3.40 (Pajam toll plaza), RM4.80 (Mantin toll plaza) and RM6 (Setul toll plaza) whereas the toll rate for the Jelebu toll plaza will increase to RM2.30.
AKLEH will increase its fares to RM2.50, while the GCE will see a price hike to RM1.90 at the Bukit Jelutong, Elmina and Lagong toll plazas respectively for two axle vehicles (excluding taxis and buses).
The LKSA will also see an increase to RM1.70 at the Seri Muda toll plaza and 90 sen at the Alam Impian toll plaza.
Meanwhile, PLUS Malaysia Berhad Highway concessionaire has reiterated that toll rates on all PLUS operated highways will remain unchanged.
Their portfolio of highways include: the North-South Expressway (NSE), the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE), the Federal Highway Route 2 (FHR2), the Seremban Port-Dickson Highway (SPDH), the North-South Expressway Central Link (NSECL), the Malaysia-Singapura Second Crossing (MSSC), the Butterworth-Kulim highway (BKE) and the Penang bridge.
