KUALA LUMPUR: Several Taman Yarl residents have cried foul over a proposed 18-storey condominium project located along Jalan Awan Selimpat.

Its residents' association president Datuk Rabinder Singh said it was not the first time the project's developer had applied for the same development at the plot of land which is almost one acre.

The current developer had applied previously but the applicationwas rejected by DBKL (City Hall) through a letter dated Oct 30, 2014. At that point, the developer had proposed a 21-storey condominium at the same location.

"However, now they have amended the (project's) plans to an 18-storey condominium. We don't understand how after the plan has been rejected it is being re-submitted which means we would have to go through the objection process again," he said in a press conference held at the Villa Yarl yesterday.

Some of the objections raised were that Taman Yarl is a low-density area with bungalows or semi-detached homes.

Other reasons include the potential daily traffic congestion, lack of privacy and the residents' security during the project's construction.

"We do not have any objection with the building of houses or properties by the developer with a maximum of four storeys in height. But, we object if the project's given the green light to proceed beyond it," he said.

He hoped that City Hall will hear their objection which is expected to be this month.
