How to Save Time on House Cleaning
The modern home owner is usually a busy full time worker who doesn’t have much time to spend on home cleaning, neither do they earn enough to hire outside help to handle domestic cleaning. Often after coming home from work, most people are just too tired to pick up a broom or mop. Cleaning the home is especially challenging for single people and families where both spouses work full time.

However, all hope is not lost as there are ways and means to make cleaning a happier and more cheerful experience. Here are our recommendations:

1. Try to do it all in one day - In this way, you don’t lose steam and you don’t drag it out over several days and make yourself more tired.

2. Put on high energy music as you work – you will find that this helps give rhythm to your work, helps keep up the pace and entertains you at the same time.

3. Clean from top to bottom – whatever you are wiping, always start at the top because dust tends to fall to the bottom portions as you wipe.

4. Clear that clutter – move all bits and pieces that don’t belong in a certain area to the centre and when you’re done with a room, focus on the stuff in the centre to decide what to store and what to throw.

5. Use microfiber cloth – These cloth absorb water and dust very easily. Not to mention, it’s really easy to clean.

6. Use modern cleaning technology – think about robotic vacuum cleaners and dishwashers to help you save time.

7. Sort your laundry when you discard them - meaning that when you change clothes on a daily basis, separate your whites from your colours and thick or knitted fabric by having different laundry baskets. This will save you the effort needed to sort them on cleaning day.

8. Tuck and fold – whether it is your unfolded laundry or unmade bed, don’t ignore them and tackle them first before anything else.

9. Let tile cleaning chemicals sit for longer – always make sure that if you’re using a bathroom cleaner, whether on tiles, ceramic or other smooth surfaces, you allow them to work for at least 5-10 minutes before scrubbing or washing them off.

10. Don’t wipe windows on a hot day – If you do that, the glass cleaner or water that you use will dry too quickly and leave stains on the glass.

11. Before mopping, sweep first - This will remove any large and visible rubbish.

12. When mopping, start from the corner of the room - and then move towards the centre while removing all the dust.

Cleaning may seem easy and involve common sense. However, actually seeing everything through is really tough and involves hard work and determination. We hope you don’t give up and enjoy your experience instead.
